Where is my data actually located?

As a customer, your data goes wherever you want it. In one of our data centers in the Netherlands, in an on-premises environment, or on hardware from a vendor your company already owns. We can offer the most flexibility and support on our own servers and infrastructure.

What distinguishes ProcoliX from other parties?

We are a somewhat headstrong company that explicitly advocates for an open, free, and secure internet. We express this in a few ways:

  • ProcoliX is owned by a foundation (oid.foundation).
  • The company is involved in and sponsors innovative open-source projects.
  • It offers a safe haven to organizations and journalists facing pressure in their own countries.

Do I need a domain name?

A domain name is required for most of the products and services we provide. We can register it for you or help you set it up correctly if you already have one.

Why is [product] a lot more expensive with you than with [big tech]?

There are several things that prevent us from offering certain services at the price that [big tech] currently charges. In short:

Complimentary services

All major vendors offer a wide range of products and services that are partly dependent on the data that users generate. This means that part of the costs for each individual product/service is covered by the revenue from the others. We do not use or sell your data.

Economies of scale

The size of the infrastructure and the global network of data centers make it increasingly cheaper per user to set up and maintain it. In addition, on-demand cloud services are often sold to multiple customers simultaneously. We do not rent your server to anyone else.

Ability to invest

The economies of scale and the complementary services mean that there is a lot of capacity to invest in R&D, data centers, and infrastructure. One of the big tech companies that is very active in the Netherlands has around €80 billion available for investment, and attracting or retaining customers is also part of that. We don't have this position or this capacity.

We want to store a lot of data, process emails, or manage accounts. Is that possible?
